Story vs. rant


Here's a great quote that I saw in Peter Hessler's recent New Yorker piece on his experience readjusting to America after living in China for more than a decade. The quote is from a musician, Morris Mott:

"An individual with a story is on a higher ground than an individual with an argument," Mott said. "Your story is a powerful weapon you can use, not only against your enemies but also to bring other people into the light."

Yes, the context was a "Cowboy Up For Christ" event that Hessler attended, but evangelizing aside, it's a nice antidote to talk radio and cable gabfests…
